Andrea Marie Watts Sparling
Andrea was born on April 19, 1977. Andrea was a spirited youngster who loved to be with people. Growing up, she found nothing admirable in home tranquility and worked hard to liven things up. She loved animals and pleaded to her parents for a dog, a plea not fulfilled. As a teenager, compassion stirring, her friends' issues became her own.
In her last two years of college, she became the student her parents had encouraged her to be. She'd fax her father at work her grades, all As. Andrea was growing up. Sharing a car ride home for the holidays, she met Ben Sparling. With him she found the thirst for adventure and friendship that would lead to a marriage in 2005.
Moving to Denver in 2003, getting the dog she'd long wanted, Jack, she was close to the mountains for skiing and hiking, an endless source of challenges and adventures. When an event planning business she worked for folded, she and a few work-friends started their own business, The EMP Group. Her career afforded her opportunities to travel.
Her emails from around the world were full of the excitement and appreciation for life. “Paris is BEAUTIFUL! We went to the Orly museum where the majority of Monet and Van Gogh's works are. It was an incredible experience to be up close and see these original paintings that I have seen reprints of for years. I hope to go back someday to explore more of the city. It is like no city I have ever been to.” Then from Spain she wrote, “Last night we arrived in Barcelona. Today we went to the Picasso museum which was also an incredible experience. The museum was set up in chronological order from his very early years and each room was a different period of his life. I never knew he had done so many different types of art - sketches, portraits, landscape paintings, ceramics, cubism, etc. After paella for lunch, we went to a cathedral that Gaudi designed in 1910 or so.”
Andrea embraced opportunities and lived each moment to the fullest. In Mexico in January of 2006, her life was cut short. She had accomplished most of her important goals in life except to have children. With the birth of this site, some of her loved ones have come together to find a way to honor her life by raising money for children-in-need, Andrea's Children.
